The IFS West Coast Listserv is a professional email-based community for Internal Family Systems practitioners who want to stay connected around referrals, trainings, consultation opportunities, events, and resources related to IFS practice.
For many years, this listserv has served as a practical way for practitioners to support one another across the region. As the group has grown, we are clarifying its purpose and guidelines so it can remain useful, respectful, and clinically grounded for the whole community.
This listserv is intended to function as a professional resource, not a discussion forum. Posts should serve the practical needs of IFS practitioners and remain connected to the purpose of the group. Appropriate posts may include referral requests, IFS-related trainings or events, consultation opportunities, practice resources, and clinically relevant questions.
To protect the usefulness of the listserv, all posts are moderated. The moderators review posts for fit with the group’s purpose and agreements. Posts that move into political advocacy, public debate, critique of group rules, or high-conflict process discussion may be held, redirected, or declined.
Our hope is that this listserv remains a clear, generous, and trustworthy space where IFS practitioners can find connection, share useful resources, and support the work of healing in their communities.
This listserv is for individual practitioners who are actively connected to Internal Family Systems and want to use the group as a practical professional resource.
Members may include therapists, coaches, spiritual directors, consultants, educators, or other helping professionals who have completed IFS Level 1 training or have a clearly established background in IFS-informed work.
The listserv is especially intended for practitioners who want to:
Share or request IFS-related referrals
Learn about IFS trainings, events, workshops, or consultation opportunities
Connect with other IFS-informed professionals in the region
Share resources that support IFS practice
Participate in a clear, respectful, professionally grounded email community
Membership is for named individuals, not organizations, practices, or generic business accounts. Each member is responsible for their own participation and is expected to understand and honor the group’s posting guidelines.
This listserv may not be the right fit for those primarily looking for a discussion forum, political advocacy space, general networking group, or public venue for debating the direction or purpose of IFS.
This listserv is intended for posts that are directly useful to IFS practitioners and clearly connected to the purpose of the group.
Appropriate posts may include referral requests, IFS-related trainings or events, consultation opportunities, practice resources, study groups, office space or professional logistics relevant to practitioners, and clinically relevant questions connected to IFS practice.
A helpful post usually has a clear purpose: it is asking for support, offering a relevant resource, sharing an opportunity, or helping practitioners stay connected around the work of IFS.
To protect the usefulness of the listserv, some kinds of posts are outside the scope of the group.
Posts may be held, redirected, or declined if they move into political advocacy, ideological debate, public critique of moderation decisions, broad social commentary, high-conflict group process, or discussion about the rules or direction of the listserv itself.
The listserv is also not intended for generic marketing, repeated self-promotion, institutional accounts posting without individual accountability, or content that is not clearly connected to IFS practice.
Members are welcome to contact the moderators privately with questions, concerns, or clarification about the group guidelines.
1. Keep posts IFS-specific and professionally relevant.
Posts should support referrals, trainings, events, resources, consultation, or practitioner connection related to IFS.
2. Protect confidentiality.
Do not include identifying client information or clinical details that could compromise privacy.
3. Communicate with respect.
Assume goodwill, avoid personal attacks, and engage as colleagues.
4. Avoid political advocacy and public debate.
The listserv is not a forum for ideological debate, political organizing, or broad social commentary.
5. Do not use the listserv to debate moderation decisions.
Questions or concerns about guidelines, moderation, or group direction should be sent privately to the moderators.
6. Post as an individual member.
Membership is tied to a named individual, not a practice, business, organization, or shared account.
7. Limit excessive self-promotion.
Relevant IFS trainings, events, groups, and resources are welcome, but repeated or unrelated promotion may be held or declined.
8. Respect moderator decisions.
Moderators may approve, hold, redirect, or decline posts to protect the usefulness of the group.
